Team of the week take their bow

3 weeks ago By David Watters

The Northern Premier League Football Academy's latest star players were basking in the limelight as they headed to class and training on Monday morning.

The top 11 players from last Wednesday's Matchday Seven were named over the weekend in the NPLFA's Team of the Week as they and the rest of the students competing for their parent clubs in the Joma and Chyrso divisions of the EVO-STIK League's ground-breaking academy enjoyed their latest Match-of-the-Day style highlights show.

Released online on Friday nights, the shows are being produced by professional filming and analysis company FilmMyMatch for the second season in a row to capture every kick of a ball thanks to their partnership with the NPLFA to provide professionally filmed footage.

Established in 2012, FilmMyMatch use the latest technology, including extendable tripod technology and high definition cameras, while their in-house team of performance analysts run the rule over every match, providing coaches and players at the NPLFA with the opportunity to improve performance throughout the season.

The NPLFA was founded with the backing of the Football Association at five pilot clubs in September 2014 to provide career pathways into the football industry with youngsters studying on two year BTEC courses.

Still the only league-wide academy in English football combining sport with education and expanded to 12 members clubs, the NPLFA now offers its fourth intake of students the chance to continue their education to degree level after teaming up with Loughborough College this summer to launch a new higher education partnership.
