Snow grateful despite the result!

Chasetown couldn't reward their fans with a win for ensuring their EVO-STIK League clash with Stamford on Saturday went ahead but proud officials have sent the club's grateful thanks to the army of volunteers who answered an SOS call to clear snow.

And it wasn't just the Scholars praising the volunteers from their chairman down who spent four hours moving a mountain of snow at The Scholars Ground as fans from across Non-League took to Twitter to hail their efforts after snow and ice all but wiped out Saturday's Non-League programme in much of the Midlands and North West.

Leading the tributes before kicking off in what turned out to be a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Daniels, @ChasetownFC1954 tweeted: "The best thing about non-league football: you have everyone from the chairman, the ref & linesmen, opposition staff & all the supporters working hard for over 4hrs to get this game on. THANK YOU! #bluearmy #chaseaywe."

Before the reverse could dampen his spirits, Blues supporter Matthew Scandrett‏ even "raised a flask" to his fellow fans. Alongside pictures of their work, he tweeted: "Raise a flask to the only non league game in the West Midlands! Congratulations @ChasetownFC1954 for getting the games vs @StamfordAFC1896 on, come on you Scholars!"
