‘High’ Hikers Rescued by Mountain Rescue After Falling Ill in the Lake District.

Mountain rescuers received a “number of calls” from walkers who were worried about a group who had taken magic mushrooms and fallen ill.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team received a “number of calls” on Saturday (April 8th) afternoon from other outdoor users who were worried about a group of hikers.

The rescue mission on Stonycroft Beck took two hours and involved 11 rescuers. 

Two men in the group were feeling unwell, one of which was the group’s driver.

A rescue team spokesman said: “Two were feeling unwell, including the driver in the party.

“The casualties were walked down and given advice by the team medic regarding the timing of their onward travel.”

The magic mushrooms grow in the wild and be made into tea or eaten.
