An air ambulance was called to rush a sick supporter to hospital before Saturday's EVO-STIK League clash between Alvechurch and Gresley was abandoned.
The EVO-STIK League South fixture at Lye Meadow was called off soon after 3.30pm after a home supporter named only as 'Rick' suffered a suspected cardiac arrest within minutes of kick-off and the emergency services were called while he was treated by medical staff at the ground.
Church officials used their Twitter account to confirm the abandonment and wish their fan a speedy recovery, @Alvechurch1st tweeting: "Today’s game v @GresleyFC has been called off because one of our fans has suffered a cardiac arrest and has been taken to hospital. All the best Rick please get well mate!"
West Midlands rivals Hinckley United were one of the first clubs to send their best wishes, @hinckley_afc tweeting: "Sorry to hear this, regards and well wishes from us all at HAFC."
