First team coach stands down

Steve Walker has stepped down as first team coach at EVO-STIK League Coalville Town.

The former Corby Town, Desborough, Oadby Town and Rothwell Town coach told officials at Owen Street on Tuesday that he was taking a break from football, citing increasing work and travel commitments for his decision to resign after three seasons working alongside manager Tommy Brookbanks and assistant manager Mark Harvey.

The Ravens paid tribute to Walker, pictured, in a statement on the EVO-STIK League Premier Division club's website and social media channels thanking him for his services since his arrival for the 2014-15 season as first team coach.

A spokesman said: "The club have unfortunately been informed that coach Steve Walker has decided to take a break from football and leave his role as first team coach. Due to work commitments and travel, Steve felt that he couldn't put the time and effort in that the club and role requires at this level of football."

The Ravens added: "Steve has played a massive part in helping Coalville reach the Evo-Stik League Premier and has been an ever-present figure in the dugout since Tommy and Mark took over. They understand his decision however and after speaking to Tommy he said, 'We wish Steve all the best and he knows the door is always open for a return'. From everyone at CTFC, thanks Steve!"
