Fell hails Marie as missing link

By David Watters

Ramsbottom United manager Mark Fell is backing EVO-STIK League promotion winner Dominic Marie to fire his side to success.

Snapped up by Halifax from Winsford as a teenager before going on to score goals for Marine and Prescot Cables, the 23-year-old striker arrived at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium this weekend after winning promotion from EVO-STIK League North with Hyde United last season.

Rams fans could get their first glimpse of the tall frontman on Tuesday night when he is expected to feature against Chester in a pre-season friendly. According to Fell, he could be joined by other new faces as he prepares a squad for the big kick off to the 2018-19 EVO-STIK League West campaign on Saturday 18 August.

Pictured welcoming Marie to the club on Friday, Fell said: “We’re still actively recruiting and are very close to at least one other major signing. Dom has fantastic attributes and has scored goals at this level and above, we’ve been without a real pacy number nine for a while now and in Dom we think we’ve found the answer."

He added: "He’s very professional in his approach and dedicated, he needs to settle at a club and get his head down, we think he’s going to be a great addition.”
