Fans invited to remember stalwart

Radcliffe fans, players and officials are holding the memorial for the EVO-STIK League club's late secretary Ric Fielding on Saturday after hosting South Shields.

The ceremony takes place at Stainton Park after the EVO-STIK League North club was rocked by the unexpected passing of the popular secretary in early February.

A well-known character throughout the Northern Premier League who'd made many friends throughout the Non-League game as a lifelong fan and administrator, the Radcliffe stalwart had been ill for some time.

Using their Twitter account to publicise the event, @radcliffeboro tweeted: "This Saturday after the South Shields game there will be a memorial for our secretary Ric Fielding which starts from 7pm at the club for everyone to pay their respects."

The memorial follow a series of tributes from the club in the days after his death. In one describing him as a "brilliant and witty character", officials wrote: "Ric embodied everything great about Non-League football, involved throughout the club in so many roles for the pure love of the game and the benefit of others. He will be sorely missed by everyone associated with the club past and present."
